We Believe in Family Communication
Teen Talk believes in Family Communication. We strongly feel sex education begins at home. Studies have shown that parent/child communication around sex is one of the biggest factors in the reduction of teen pregnancy and STDs. Therefore, we are committed to helping families talk to the teens in their lives about sex more comfortably.
We understand that parents may feel uncomfortable communicating with their children about sex because of their cultural values, norms, and traditions. We also know that communicating about these issues throughout childhood, adolescents and young adulthood sets the foundation for a healthy sexuality.
If your child participates in our middle/high school sex education program, we strongly encourage you to talk to your child about these issues while they are in the program. Your child will be given a homework assignment which requires them to interview a parent/guardian or trusted adult. Please take the time to do this assignment with your child and let this be the beginning of many conversations with them about puberty and sex.
